Incremental implementation of the hepatitis A vaccination strategy, which started in 1996 and was targeted for high risk populations, has reduced the current rate of hepatitis A to the lowest ever reported in the U.S. Hepatitis A is no longer more prominent in certain ethnic groups or geographic locations. As such, vaccination of specific groups of people doesn't make sense anymore.2
