Why report pre sails to mseo |
So the MSEO to report to the CO |
|
To whom do you report if no MSEO borne? Why? |
CERA because he is HOD qualified |
|
What are the 3 purposes of the RAST system? |
To provide a Recovery assist capability during sea states 3 to 5 enabling the helo to land safetly
To secure the helo after landing
To provide a means of aligning the helo
|
|
What parts asso listed with RAST are located on the flight deck list 5 |
RSD
SAFETY NETS
TRACK
RA CABLE EXIT POINT
FISH TAIL
ELECTRIC CABLE REEL
ILLUMINATION LIGHTS |
|
What is the purpose of the RSD |
It's a self contained , rapid response mechanism used for securing the helo on the flight deck upon landing. Also assists aligning and secures during traversing. |
|
What is the purpose of the roller assemblies on rsd |
It guides the RSD along the track, to support the RSD and secure it to the flight deck |
|
What is located in the centre of the floor of the RSD? |
A funnel shaped brass fairlead through which the RA cable passes |
|
When should the fairlead be changed on the rsd |
When signs of excessive wear are apparent that could lead to fraying |
|
Describe how the buffer assemblies Re constructed and what special features should we be aware of when working on them |
Each buffer consists of 24 resilient rubber pads and spaces sandwiched together. They are mounted on rods that pass through them. The assemblies are compressed slightly when installed which insures positive cushion on impact. |
|
What is the purpose of the buffer assemblies and where are they mounted on the rsd |
The buffers can stop the RSD and a fully loaded helo traveling at max traverse speed. They are mounted in two parallel boxes on the underside of the RSD |
|
What supplies power to the RSD motor? Where is it stored? |
A 19 core electric cable, stored on and reeled in by an electric cable REEL located forward in the hangar. |
|
How many beam actuator cables are there |
8 |
|
Briefly explain how the arresting beam actuating system works. What is the fear and sprocket ratio |
Ratio 2:1 Each arresting beam has a cable system routed through a sheave system and the cables are attached to hydraulic actuators. |
|
Briefly explain the RSD shuttle system |
There are two identical shuttle systems Each shuttle consists of a shuttle and chain assembly that moves along a channel track. |
|
What is used to adjust the tension of the shuttle chain assembly |
An eye bolt and a chain adjuster |
|
What is the purpose of the arresting beams |
The arresting beams provide the means of securing the helo main probe to the rsd |
|
What prevents the helo from moving fwd and aft while secured to the RSD |
The arresting beams contain 12 spring loaded pins that restrain movement |
|
When the arresting beams are latched together what visual indication is given |
2 bright colored flags will stand up and the beams latched light will illuminate on the CC |
|
Describe the accumulator fitted on the RSD |
Floating internal piston type Fluid is pumped into one end of the cylinder and the piston is forced towards the opposite end of the cylinder against a captive charge of nitrogen |
|
List 4 purposes of the RSD accumulator |
Hydraulic shock suppression Fluid make up in a closed system Leakage compensation Provide an emergency power |
