Defense mechanisms
|
When unconscious, unacceptable thoughts, feelings, and impulses threaten to emerge they cause anxiety. The ego protects the self from being overwhelmed by the anxiety with defense mechanisms

they have difficulty with interpersonal interactions b/c cause anxiety, but they desire interaction

Defense mechanism: undoing
|
prominent in schizotypal PD
think (unconsciously) that anxiety causing thoughts will disappear "magically" if they undo them (ex: tap on the wall three times) |

What is the age/time criteria for antisocial PD?
|
Must be >18yo with hx of conduct disorder (CDO) >15 yo
