Produce and store sperm,


To transfer sperm to female system,has 9 major components.

Production of sperm

Begins at puberty, sperm is the male sex cell,process takes 72 days,must be kept at a lower temp then body temp

Testes

Male reproductive gland,where sperm is produced,produces sperm in seminiferous Tubules

Epididymis

Sits on top of each testicle,tightly coiled comma shaped tube,where sperm mature and develop the ability to swim

Vas deferens

Connects the Epididymis with the Urethra,serves as a passage way for sperm,where sperm is stored until Ejaculation

Seminal vesicles

Is the size of a finger and is located behind the bladder,produces fluid that gives sperm energy and helps them move, make up 70% of semen and improves chance of survival in female.

Prostate gland

Located below the bladder where the bad deferents joins the urethra,secrets thin milky fluid that makes up 30 % of semen

Cowper's gland

Produces a clear slippery fluid directly into the urethra,pre ejaculatory fluid cleans the urine out of the urethra

Urethra

Passageway for sperm to leave the body, passageway for urine to leave the body

Penis

Male external reproductive organ that is made of spongy tissue, sensitive to temp., tissue fills with blood when male is aroussed

Scrotum

External skin sac that holds the testicles, layer of muscle to protect testicles,sensitive to temp.

Erection

Hardening and enlargement of the penis, occurs when male is sexually excited, penis fills with blood and hardens.

Semen

Mixture of sperm and glandular secretions, helps sperm swim, protects sperm from acid.

Ejaculation

Climax of sexual excitement, semen is ejected from the penis

Circumcision

Removal of foreskin of the penis

Vasectomy

Male sterilization technique,the vas deference is then cut and tied to help prevent sperm from leaving the body
