Bilateral, often occipital and/or frontotemporal pressing pain of gradual onset w/associated photophobia and phonophobia, no nausea. Provoked by driving/typing.
Tension headaches
Unilateral, retro-orbital severe pain of abrupt onset, lasts up to 3 hours. Associated lacrimation, rhinorrhea, ptosis, palpebral edema. Prominent in men. Multiple episodes, then none for months.
Cluster Headaches

Recurrence of previous headache pattern
Analgesic rebound
Bilateral or unilateral periorbital or supraorbital aching pain w/ gradual onset after extended periods of computer usage or reading. May radiate occipitally.
Eye refraction headaches (NOT nearsightedness)
Sudden onset unilateral periorbital severe pain. Associated nausea and vomiting.
Acute glaucoma
Supra-orbital or infra-orbital throbbing headache recurring daily for hours at a time. Aggrivated by coughing, sneezing, jarring head. Tenderness on palpation of forehead or cheekbones.
Headache from sinusitis
Very severe generalized pain of fairly rapid onset lasting days. Associated stiff neck.
Meningitis
Extremely severe generalized pain of abrupt onset. Associated nausea, vomiting, neck pain, loss of consciousness.
Subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Focal aching, steady pain of relatively brief duration, but intermittent and progressively worse. Aggravated by coughing, sneezing, jarring the head.
Brain tumor
Localized occipital or temporal throbbing pain. Recurrent over weeks to months. Associated tenderness of scalp, fatigue, weight loss, visual loss, or jaw claudication.
Giant cell (temporal) arteritis (pseudotumor cerebri)
Localized dull aching pain of regressing intensity. Associated memory loss, irritability, restlessness. Onset 1-2 days after trauma.
