Pectoralis Minor
Deep Muscle, lies beneath Pectoralis Major. Originates at lower rib and inserts at the front of scapula. Responsible for rolling shoulders forward.
Serratus Anterior
Deep, inferior to pectroalis minor. Originates at lower rib. Inserts in front of scapula. Helps pectoralis minor in rolling shoulders forward.
External Intercostals
Between Ribs: superficial pull up on rib cage for respiration
Internal Intercostals
Between ribs. Involved in forced expiration
Trapezius
Originates off of occipital bone and spinous process of cervical vertabrae. Function is to extend head and elevate shoulders: shrug

Originates at the spinous process and inserts at humerous. Pulls arms back as if rowing
Suprispinatus
works with deltoid for abduction of arm. Pulls away from midline of the body.
Teres Major
Originates at border of scapula and inserts on medial/anterior humerus. Draws arm toward the body. ADDUCTION
Teres Minor
Sliver of muscle sandwiched between infraspinatus and Teres Major. Responsible for lateral rotation of the arm/humerus
Levator Scapulae
Transverse process C1-4 inserts superior medial border of scapula. Responsible for elevating scapula.
Rhomboids
Spinous process of t2-t5 inserts at medial border of scapula, pulls in on medial border of scapula and rotates Medially and Inferiorally
Rectus Abdominis
Parallel muscles originate at pelvic girdle and up towards xiphoid process. Flexes the vertebral column
External Obliques
Muscle Fibers running at angle, lateral to pelvic girdle, responsible for trunk rotation.
Internal Oblique
Deep to External Oblique, assists with trunk rotation.
Fronalis
Overlays frontal bone, raises eyebrows and wrinkles forehead
occipitalis
Overlies the occipital bone and pulls scalp posteriorly
temporalis
lies deep, very large, runs down into mandible. Responsible for pulling up/elevating the mandible for chewing
Masseter
sits in front of ear. Responsible for mastication, pulling up on mandible
Buccinator
originates on the mandible and maxilla. Inserts self on obicularis oris. Compresses cheeks...whistling
Zygomaticus
2 Muscles: Major and Minor. Originate on zygomatic bone
Pulls up on corners of mouth...Smiling
Depressor angulioris
Pulls down on corners of mouth. Frowning. Is antagonist to zygomaticus.
Orbicularis Oris
Surrounds the mouth and lips. Round muscle. Called the kissing muscle. Puckers lips
Orbicularis oculi

Mentalis
point of chin. turns up bottom lip. Protrudes the pouting muscle
Sternocleidomastoid
Powerful and large muscle. Bilateral.
Individual: Turns head to opposite shoulder.
Unison: flexes neck
digastric
raises the hyoid bone for swallowing. Is 2 parts. Posterior off the mastoid process to hyoid bone
mylohyoid
works with digastric to aid in swallowing.
sternohyoid
originates of manubrium attaches to bottom of hyoid. Opposite to mylohyoid. Depresses the hyoid to aid in swallowing.
omohyoid
originates off the scapula. inserts on lower hyoid. Works with sternohyoid to depress hyoid and aid in swallowing.
