What are some hangar protection requirements?
1. Low level AFFF system ;high degree of reliability; and low maintenance requirements
2. Closed head water only overhead sprinkler system
3. Optical detection system to activate the low level AFFF system
4. Appropriate drainage systems
5. Draft curtains to prevent cooling of sprinkler heads, allowing earlier detection of heat sources
Why is it necessary to train on the fire suppression system?
Because of the impact false activation of the system which causes loss of man-hours, materials, readiness, and financial burden
What is the estimated cost of a false activation? Why?
$80,000
B/C of :
1. Damage to aircraft
2. Cost to recharge system
3. Cost of run-off retention
4. Cost of AFFF removal
5. Associated manpower expenses
What are aircraft hangers used for?
