What were the North and South's feelings regarding the Tariff?
North felt it protected them from the South buying cheaper goods from Great Britain.

South felt it wasn't fair to force them to buy northern goods by raising the prices of British goods. They wanted to nullify the tax.
What is nullification (to nullify)?
when states ignore a federal law that they believe is unfair.
What was the Kansas-Nebraska Act and what was the result of it?
Kansas and Nebraska territories were allowed to hold an election to decide on whether they would enter as slave or free states.
What was Bleeding Kansas?
A violent event that occurred in the north and south's attempts to convince the Kansas and Nebraska territories to side with their political views on slavery.
Who was elected president in the Election of 1860 and what was the result of the election?
Abraham Lincoln. As a result, the South seceded and the Civil War began.
What was the decision of the Scott vs. Sandford court case?
the courts decided that Dred Scott did not deserve to be free.
What was the Georgia Platform?
a statement declaring that Georgia would accept and support the Compromise of 1850 as long as the North supported the Fugitive Slave Act.
Who was Alexander Stephens and what is he credited for?
He was a GA representative who convinced Georgia to support the Compromise of 1850. Because of this, he is credited with putting off the war.

Union tactic to block southern states and hurt their economy by preventing supplies from going in and out

In some ways, but the Confederates had blockade runners, which were ships that snuck through the Union's blockade.
What was Sherman's March to Sea?
a campaign in which Union General William Tecumseh Sherman marched from Atlanta to Savannah, burning everything and taking supplies to refuel his army.

They all dealt with maintaining a balance of free and slave states.
