What is a bus bar?
A primary power distribution point, connected to a main power source.
What is a capacitor?
A device capable of storing an electrical charge.
What is a circuit breaker?
An electromagnectic or thremally activated device that opens a circuit when the current exceeds a predetermined amount.
What is a diode?
An electronic devicethat restricts current flow chiefly to one direction.
What is a ground?
A metallic connection with the earth to establish ground potential.
What is an earth ground?
Connected to the earth or to the negative battery terminal.
What is a vehicle chassis ground?
connected to the negative battery terminal through a connection with the vehicle chassis.
What is a relay coil?
Device using an electromagnet to control one or more sets of contacts.
What is a relay contact?
Controlled by a relay coil, contacts can be normally open or normally closed.
What is a wire connection?
Common point where two wires joined. An open circle indicates a screw terminal connection.
What is a conductor cable?
Harness number
What is a wire?
A wire must have ends, can either be pins or sockets or combination of either.
What is a connector pin and socket?
Pin and socket within a harness.
What is a resistor?
A device capable of providing resistance in an electrical circuit.
What is a lamp?
Symbol for light bulb. A letter indicates the color
What is a monentary switch?
Device when pressed, closes a circuit, i.e. CWS handle trigger
What is a switch?
Device used to open/close the current path of one or more circuits.
What is a solenoid
An electromagnet coiled around a moveable plunger.
What is a transistor?
A three electrode semiconductor used either as a switch or an amplifier.
What is a silicone controller rectifier?
A semiconductor thats basic purpose is to function as a switch that can turn on or off and control large amounts of power.
What is a test point?
Point accessible on a component to take measurements with BOB/multimeter.
What is a call out bubble?
Used for tracing a circuit that continues onto the next page.
What is voltage?
It is the pressure or force that drives electrical charge from one pole to another
What is current?
It is the strenght of the electrical charge.
What is resistance?
It is the opposition to the flow of current.
What is a conductor?
Component used to direct the flow of electricity.
What is continuity?
The constant flow of electricity without interuption
What is a power supply?
It generates the positive and negative charges, i.e. battery
What is a load?
Draws current in order to work.
What is a multimeter?
A Device used to measure voltage, current or ohms.
What does the electron theory state?
States that the electrons travel towards the protons.
