What are the Canadian Advocacy Groups called?
The Elizibeth Fry Soceity and the John Howard Society.
What does the Elizibeth Fry Society beleive in?
They think that each case must be looked at individually. They think that each case is different and that everyone should be treated in a non judgemental way. They think that society needs to help them become better citizens. They think that people need to be able to go to school and not have a job. They don’t think that jail is a suitable punishment for children.
What does the John Howard Society beleive in?
They say that they are like the conscience of the justice system. They think that it is not a good idea to simply pass more laws or make them harsher. They think that look at the evidence to figure out what they want to accomplish. They think that the federal government is not being helpful in preventing youth crimes. They believe that every dollar spent on preventing children’s crimes the society would save 7-20. They think that prevention is easy but that some politicians want to win the elections so they skip over this problem.

How do they accomplish this?
The accomplish this by using different techniques such as apologizing and comunity service. This helps the criminal learn what they did wrong and how to fix it.
