What is gravity?
Gravity is the force that pulls objects towards each other
What is free fall?
Free fall is when gravity is the only force on a falling object (ex. sky-diving before the parachute opens)
What is projectile motion?
Projectile motion is when an object that is thrown is pulled by the same amount of gravity (ex. a baseball meaning thrown will hit the ground in the same amount of time as that of a baseball just being dropped, theoretically)
What is force?
A push or pull
What is air resistance?
Air resistance is the upward force on an object; the opposite of motion
What is weight?
Weight is the amount of gravity pulling on an object
What is mass?
Mass is the amount of matter inside an object
What is universal gravitation?
Universal gravitation is any two objects in the universe that are attracted to each other through gravity
What are two things gravity is dependent on?
Gravity is dependent on...
1. The mass of the two objects (smaller the object, the weaker the force)
2. Distance from the object (the further away the object is, the weaker the force)
Why does our weight change from planet to planet?
Our weight changes from planet to planet because it's dependent on the force of gravity on each separate planet.
What is Inertia/Newton's 1st Law?
An object will stay in place unless something moves it. An object will continue moving in a straight line unless something stops it.
What is centripetal force?
Any force that causes an object to move in a circle
