Newtons law of universal Gravitation?
Every Particle in the universe attracts every other particle with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. This force acts along the line joining the two particles.
What type of force is gravitational force?
A mutual force
Why must a satellite adhere to the equator?
In uniform circular motion the force causing centripetal acceleration acts towards the center of the circle. In satellite motion, this force is provided by the gravitational force between the satellite and the earth. The gravitational force between two spherical bodies acts along the line of centers of the bodies. Thus for any earth satellite the center of its circular orbit must coincide with the center of the earth.
Geostationary satilite?
Remains directly above the earth's surface throughout its life.
Which way day earth rotate?
West to East.
Low-altitude orbits?
They are retograde orbits, orbiting at 98 degrees to equator. They orbit in the opposite direction to which the earth spins,
Sun synchronous?
When a retrograde orbit covers the same part of earth at the same time of day every day.
Advantage of LPO?
covers earth in one day
Takes high res photos
