Anarchy
society without government or law. Substitution of associations of groups of people for the state.
Aristocracy
state ruled by a privileged class (determined by wealth or birth). Based on belief the elite know better than the common on how to rule.
Autocracy
system of government in which unlimited power is formally vested in one person, a monarch, ruling without restriction.
Bureaucracy
any form of government with power concentrated in administrative bureaus, of ten equated with formalism, red tape, and over-organization.
Colonial
government set up by a group of people in a foreign territory subject to the parent state.
Communism
a totalitarian government based on a social system where goods are held in common.
Constitutional
government subject to the provisions and limitations of a written enforced constitution.
Democracy
government with supreme power vested in the people and exercised by them. Direct/indirect.
Despotism
government by a ruler who uses unlimited absolute authority to achieve his goals.

state in which the people are represented by elected agents and the head of state is an elected official.
Theocracy
system of government by people who claim a divine right to rule.
Totalitarianism
centralized government with absolute control by one political party and/or the military.
Tribe
social and economic group usually in a primitive or nomadic state acting under a chief.
