Dictatorship

Power is taken by force. One person rules with an iron fist, with all of the power.

Absolute Monarchy

Power is inherited. One single ruler with absolute power, and is the only person above the law.

Constitutional Monarchy

King or Queen of the country is in power, but with some restraints and a parliament to help govern.

Direct Democracy

Every citizen votes on everything, there is no one ruler.

Representative Democracy

Some citizens vote, but there are some restrictions, with representatives with the majority of the power.

Theocracy

Citizens worship a god/gods. Priests are considered leaders, and the citizens do not vote.

Oligarchy

Power is given to a few people who must agree on what is to be done.

Anarchy

There is no leadership, every man for themselves

Constitution

The rules of a nation listed on paper, to remind the people of them

Rule of Law

No one is above the law, everyone must obey the rules, and they will be enforced

Separation of Power

Power is divided equally among three branches, no one branch/person has unlimited power

Consent of the Governed

Citizens give permission to be governed, they do this by voting

Minority Rights

Everyone has equal power, no group of people is better than the other

Order and Security

Every citizen should feel safe and should be able to make suggestions to make them feel safe

Legitimacy

Citizens must see the laws as worthy and fair

Equal Applications of the Law

No one is above the law, everyone is treated with the same rules

Checks and Balances

No one branch has more power than the other

Procedural Fairness

The government has rules and procedures for legal procedure

Access to Justice

Citizens have the knowledge they need to access justice
