Secondary alterations in adjoining tissues.
Collagen & mucopolysaccharides (proteoglycans) as ground substance of chondroitin sulfate. Abnormal forces in articulation promote loss of chondroitin sulfate via interference of normal chondrocyte fcn. Ground substance gets altered, collagen get exposed => fissures & crevices. Underlying subchondral bone exposed. |
