Osteogenesis Imperfecta
AD, defective type I collagen synthesis, blue sclera, deafness, pathologic fractures, Bisphosphonates is treatment
Achondroplasia
AD, mutation in fibroblast growth factor (associated with icnreased paternal age) impaired proliferation of catilage at growth plate, normal head, short arms and legs
Osteopetrosis
AR (severe), AD (less severe) deficiecny of osteoclasts, overgroswth of cortical bones, pathologic facture, anemia and CN entrapment
Osteomyelitis
usually d/t sepsis. Most common in metaphysis, major pathogen is staph aureus, fever nboen pain, diagnosis by biopsy

Sickle cell disease- salmonella paratyphi, pseudomonas aeruginosa most often d/t puncture of foot through rubber footwear

Paget's disease
mostly men over 50, osteoclastic phase folowed by osteoplastic phase, elevated alk phos in osteoblastic phae -> weak thick, vascular bone can lead to ostegenic sarcoma
Fibrous dysplasia
defect in osteoblast differentiation and maturation, medullary bone displaced by fibrous tissue, pain and swelling of bone
Albright's syndrome
polyostotic bone involvmement, dafe-au-lait spots, precoccious sexual develoment
