Where is the Law of Moses found?

In the books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus.

Leviticus 24:16

"Anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord must be put to death".

What was the oral tradition?

Man-made laws to try and protect us from breaking God's laws, such as not being allowed to walk further than the Synagogue on the Sabbath as this constituted work.

What were God's laws meant to show us?

How imperfect we are and that we need God. They were not to be used as a measure of holiness.

When did the religious authorities fail to understand the significance of the law?

When Jesus appeared to break it deliberately by allowing his disciples to pick corn on the Sabbath.

Luke 6:9

"I ask you, which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to destroy it?".

Luke 5:32

"I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance".
