The bind to the major platemt surface recepto invloved in platelet aggregation. Prevent the binding of fibrin.
What is the advantage of a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor?
What is the disadvantage?
Most effective antiplatelet agent.
Very expensive and can only be given IV
Abciximab
Reopro
Integrilin
Eptif
Eptifibatide
Tirofibran
Aggrastat
How does Abciximab work?
Dosing?
Inhibits platelet aggregation by preventing binding of fibrin to VonWillebrands factor and other molecules
.25 mg/kg bolus, then
0.125 mcg/kg/min for > or = to 12 hours
What is Integrilin dose?
135-180 mg/kg IV, then
.5 - 2 mcg/kg/min for up to 72 hours
Tirofibran
.4 mcg/kg/min x 30 minutes IV, then
0.1 mcg/kg/min x 12-24 hours IV
