Transit operations supervisor of instruction (TOS - I)

Interlining

A bus that is assigned to a specific line that also has assigned trips scheduled on other lines/routes. Example: a bus that is working line 30, bus run 1, who, for a portion of its assignment, also makes trips on one or more other lines, i.e., 68, 18, etc.

Layover

The time the bus is scheduled to be at the end of the line. Its primary purpose is for the recovery of the running board, to allow for late arrivals to be able to depart on their next trip as close to on time as possible. Secondarily, and of least importance, to provide a rest break for the operator. Example: If the bus is scheduled to arrive at The Layover at 11 o'clock and depart at 11:15, but the bus doesn't arrive at The Layover until 11:12, the operator is not entitled to a 15 minute break and must leave The Layover as close to the 1:15 time as possible.
