We're thinking Crytosporidum hominis b/c the pt has HIV.

Its a threat to water sources because oocytes are Cl- resistant, theres large numbers of oocytes excreted, they are highly infectious immediately, and many animals excrete the oocytes

Cryptosporidium hominis, Clyclospora cayetanensis, Isospora belli
A pt ingests apples from his apple farm and gets nausea, anorexia, abd. cramps with watery diarrhea. Acid fast is positive. How do we Dx?

OOcytes NOT infective immediately like Cryptosporidium

Dx = Oocytes in stool

Note- Can also be obtained from water source
