The Night of the Long Knives 1934 |
Ernst Rohm and 400 other SA leaders were killed on Hitler's orders. Hitler had been worried that their power was beginning to rival his and they were in a position to overthrow him. Rohm had become demanding and wanted to merge the SA with the army, making them more powerful. Army leaders did not like Rohm and demanded Hitler take action. 30 June, Rohm was murdered while on holiday |
