What is a median?
A line dropped from the vertex of a triangle such that it bisects the side of the triangle
What are adjacent angles?
Two angles are adjacent if they share a vertex and a common side.
What is a perimeter?
Sum of the sides of a polygon
What is a plane?
An infinite surface such that a line joining any two points on it is contained entirely on the surface
What is a circle?
Geometric locus of points in a plane situated at a given distance from a given point in this plane
What is a radius
a segment joining the center of the circle to a point on the circle
What is a disk?
the interior region of a circle
What is a sphere?
The locus of points in space equidistant from a given point
What is an arc?
A portion of a circle is called an arc.
What is a diameter?
A segment which passes through the center of the circle and has endpoints lying on the circle
What is an angle bisector?
An angle bisector is a ray that divides an angle into two equal parts
Theorem-Vertical angles
Two vertical angles are congruent
What are perpendicular lines?
Two lines are perpendicular if among the four angles they form two adjacent angles that are equal to each other.- NOT 90 degrees!
What is a right angle?
A right angle is an angle whose sides are perpendicular. We can say 90 degrees, we defined that in class.
THEOREM- In a given plane...
Through a given point on a line, we can only draw one perpendicular to that line
Straight angle
Sides form a straight line is called a straight angle. Two right angles
acute
angle whos measure is less than a right angle
obtuse
angle who's measure is greater than a right angle
THEOREM iN THE SAME CIRCLE...
THE RATIO OF TWO CENTRAL ANGLES IS EQUAL TO THE RATIO OF THEIR SUBTENDED ARCS
THEOREM- Reflection
A plane figure is congruent to its reflection
