point
has no dimension and represented by a dot.
line
one dimensional and represented by a line with two arrowheads
Collinear points
Points that exist on the same line.
Coplanar points
Points that exist on the same plane.
Line segment
A part of a line that is bounded by two endpoints.
Ray
A line which starts at a point and goes off in a particular direction to infinity.
Postulate
A rule that is accepted without proof.
Midpoint
The point that divides the segment into two congruent segments.
Segment bisector
a point, ray, line segment, or plane that intersect a segment at its midpoint.
Angle bisector
A ray that divides an angle into two angles that are congruent.
Supplementary angles
two angles whose sum is 180°
Complementary Angles
two angles whose sum is 90°
Adjacent Angles
two angles that share a common vertex and side.
Linear pair
Two adjacent angles are a linear pair if their non common sides are opposite rays.
Vertical Angles
Two angles are vertical if their sides form two opposite rays.
Convex polygons
no line that contains a side of the polygon contains a point in the interior of the polygon.
Concave polygons
a polygon that is not convex. Also called non convex.
Plane
two dimensions, flat surface. Through any 3 points not on the same line, there is exactly one plane.
