Strato, Shield

Strato or composite volcanoes

Typically steep-sided symmetrical cones of large dimensional build of altering layers of lava flows volcanic ash, cinders, blocks, and bombs that may rise as much as eight thousand feet above their base.

Shield volcanoes

Built almost entirely of fluid lava flows. Low after flow pours out in all directions from a central Summit vent, or group events, building a broad, gently sloping cone of flat, tow missile shape, with a profile much like that of a warrior Shield.
