James Usher
(1581-1665) Biblical scholar, published claim of age and origin of earth in 1958. Made his assumptions on the bible that he took as fact. He said that the earth is about 6000 years old. Did the same thing as John Lightfoot.

(1656-1738) Speculated on human descended from marine ancestors, on geologic age of the earth, and on the origins of mountains. He was the first to claim that the earth was billion of years old, but he had no proof.
