7 Global Myths about Global Warming
|
1) "Coasts are flooding" - sea level is rising but on a decade/century timescale
2) "Planet is burning up" - Earth Heat map can be skewed w/ different temperature scales 3) "Not really Global" may not look global because different areas of the planet react differently to changes, some heat up, others cool down, some dont change 4) "Record low Temps disprove GW" - record temps in 2009 where at their lowest but only for 1 place, 1 season. its just an outlier 5) "its only 3 degrees" thats celcius which is 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit. many organisms can't tolerate even just a few degrees of change. 6) "scientists can't decide between global warming/cooling" lots of evidence of global cooling is being researched. but source and date should be checked 7) "its a hoax" Climategate - hackers stole data from UK climate lab and gave to GW skeptics, showed that data was corrupted and altered. but does not prove that its a conspiracy. scientists were cleared. |
