Map
A map is a flat or 2D representation of the Earth. These are often filled with distortion.
Globe
A globe is a 3D representation of the Earth. It allows you to see landforms in relation to other landforms in size.
Projection
A way to reduce distortion on a map. (Mercator Projection etc..)
Absolute Location
A places absolute location by using Degrees and latitude and longitude.
Relative Location
A places relative location describes where the place is in relation to places around it. (EX: My house is SouthEast of the Burger King on Joppa road.)
Global Address
Every place has an exact global address. (EX: 20degrees North, 45degrees West.)
Coordinates
Such as on google earth, a places coordinates are the same as the global address.
Latitude
Lines of Latitude run East and West, some famous lines of Latitude to remember are: The Equator
Longitude
Lines of Longitude run North and South,, some famous lines of Longitude to remember are: The International Date Line.
Equator
The Equator is an imaginary line of latitude. It is exaclty 0 degrees, and it seperates the world into Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Prime Meridian
It runs through Greenwhich, England, and it divides the world into Eastern and Western Hemispheres.
International Date Line
a theoretical line following approximately the 180th meridian, the regions to the east of which are counted as being one day earlier in their calendar dates than the regions to the west.
