3) if cave is formed in headland, may break to other side forming arch

4) arch becomes bigger, until can no linger hold top of the arch

5) arch collaposes, leaves headland one side and stack on other

6) stack will be attacked weakens structure forms stump

what is hydraulic action?

force of water striking cliffs and forcing over into joints

- this fractures rock

what is abrasion?

rock and sand in waves grind down surface of cliff like sandpaper

what is attrition?

rocks rub againest each other on shore , break bbecome smoother
