Intersect
Lines that either cross each other at a common or meet at a common point.
Parallel
Two lines that will never touch each other.
Skew
Lines that aren't parallel, but will never touch each other.
Angle
Angles are made up of two rays meeting at a vertex.
Vertex
A point where two rays meet.
Acute Angle
An angle less than 90º but more than 0º.
Right Angle
An angle that is exactly 90º.
Obtuse Angle
An angle that is bigger than 90º and less than 180º.
Straight Angle
An angle that forms a straight line.
Adjacent Angles
Share a vertex and a ray but no points in their interiors.
*Vertical Angles*
Are formed by two intersecting lines and are opposite each other. They have that same measurement.
Congruent Angles
Angles that have the same measurement.
*Supplementary Angles*
When the sum of the measures of two or more angles adds up to 180º.
*Complementary Angles*
When the sum of the measures of two or more angles adds up to 90º.
Corresponding Angles
Angles that are in the same position as another angle.
Transversal
When a line intersects two other lines in different points.
Alternate Interior Angles
Are in the interior of a pair of lines on opposite sides of the transversal.
Alternate Exterior Angles
Are on the exterior of a pair of lines on opposite sides of the transversal.
Polygon
A closed plane figure with at least three sides.
Regular Polygon
Has all sides congruent and all angles congruent.
Triangle
A polygon with three sides and is classified by it's sides and angles.
Acute Triangle
All angles are less than 90º.
Right Triangle
One right angle and two acute angles.
Obtuse Triangle
One obtuse angle and two acute angles.
Equalateral Triangle
All sides are congruent and all angles are 60º.
Isosceles Triangle
Two congruent sides and two congruent angles.
Scalene Triangle
No congruent sides or angles.
Radius
A segment that has one end point at the center of the circle and the other point on the circle.
Diameter
A chord that passes through the center of the circle.
Circumference
The distance around the circle (the perimeter).
Chord
Any segment whose endpoints are on the circle.
Central Angle
An angle whose vertex is the center of the circle.
Circle
The set of all the points the same distance away from a given point, called the center of the circle.
Quadrilateral
A four sided polygon.
Trapezoid
A quad with exactly one pair of parallel sides.
Parallelogram
A quad with opposite sides parallel and congruent.
Rhombus
A quad with opposite sides parallel and four sides congruent.
Rectangle
A quad with opposite sides parallel and congruent, there are four 90º angles.
Square
A quad with four sides parallel and congruent and four 90º angles.
