Cattle barons lived here first and then homesteders wanted t live n Johnson County. They started rustling the WSGA's (Wyoming stock growers association) cattle. Ella Watson was killed as she was a prostitute paid in cattle. Jim Averill was killed because he wrote a letter stating that the cattle barons were stealing money. The WSGA made a list of 70 suspected rustlers and organsied a deadly invasion. They cut the telegraph wires so nk one could call for help. They stopped at KC ranch and attacked two people. Champion and Ray fought for a day. The Sheriiff organised an army and arrested the WSGA. They were not found guilty because one of them was a governor.

Indian scouts usually worked with the Americans if they didnt like another tribe. As Indians were good at hiding and Americans were bad at finding the scouts would find them.
