QI:Qi deficiency described as:
Shortness of breath, disinclination to speak, low voice, lassitude, pale complexion, aversion to cold, spontaneous sweating, pale tongue, weak pulse, aggravated by exertion.
QI: Qi Collapse:
Qi deficiency + organ prolapse; prolapse stomach, uterus, kidney or anus, prolonged diarrhea, dysentery; pale tongue, weak pulse, especially in R Guan.
Qi: Qi stagnation
Distension and pain (more distension than pain) without fixed locations; related to emotional changes.
Qi: Qi Counter flow
Cough and asthma (LU) belching, nausea, vomit, and hiccups (ST) severe headache, vertigo, syncope, hemoptysis and hematemesis.

Qi: Qi Counter flow
Cough and asthma (LU) belching, nausea, vomit, and hiccups (ST) severe headache, vertigo, syncope, hemoptysis and hematemesis.
Blood Def:
Pale or sallow complexion, pale lips, nails, eyelids & tongue, delayed scanty urine light colored menses or amenorrhea, limb numbness, blurred vision, dizzy, palpitation, insomnia, thin little coating, thin weak pulse.
Blood Heat:
Various bleeding signs: nose blood (epistaxis), blood in stools (hemafecia), hemoptasis (cough blood) and subcutaneous bleeding with thick bright red blood, dark red tongue, wiry rapid pulse.
Blood Stasis:
Fixed stabbing pain aggravated by pressure and aat night, masses, subcutaneous bleeding, withered skin and dry cracked nails, dark complexion, dark or purple tongue and lips, thin choppy pulse + frequent bleeding with blood clots.
Blood Cold:
Severe pain with pale or bluish skin, aversion to cold and in favor of warmth, dark pale tongue with white coating, deep slow rough pulse.
Qi Deficiency (in depth)
Ancestral Qi Deficiency - the Ancestral Qi usually gets deficient 1st... Breathing; Blood circulation; voice and Shen/mind
Disinclination to speak:Ancestral Qi Deficiency
Lassitude/lethargy:Ancestral Qi mainly dominates:
SP Qi ... dominates the muscles... usually the development of Ancestral Qi Deficiency. If it can't stay, it collapses into
the MB... shows the s/s... no voice no speech... then lethargy slow muscles
Pale complexion:Ancestral
Aversion to Wind:Wei Qi Deficiency
Spontaneous sweating:Wei Qi Deficiency
Pale Tongue:Qi Deficiency
Qi Collapse (in depth)
Severe Qi Deficiency (poor production, Excess use cause Qi Deficiency) Mainly seen with organ collapse includes ST, LV, KD, uterus, rectum, eyelids
(Muscles too weak to lift the eyelids ...TCM works well here)...
+ chronic prolonged diarrhea descending sensation in the abdomen e.g., hemorrhoids...anus is dropping try very hard to move it back up... it falls out... + Qi Deficiency s/s
LV collapse question... The LV should be above the rib cage if it drops, it can be either enlarged or collapsed.
Blood Deficiency (In depth)
Dizziness (more heart) Scanty light colored or postponed menses Numbness
Pale Everything...
Complexion Nails Lips Tongue Eyelids
Tongue Pale thin, white coating Pulse Thin, Weak Except: Pale complexion can be sallow (yellowish)
There are 2 kinds of Blood Deficiency:LV, HT
LV Blood Deficiency
Withered nails Blurred visionHT Blood Deficiency
Palpitation Insomnia Dizziness
Sinews are nourished by LV Blood
Blood Stasis (in depth)
Pain
Masses Purple/Withered/Dry lips, tongue and/or nails Choppy pulse
Blood Excess: (in depth)
Amenorrhea (no menses) Blood is blocked
Tongue: Coating: Pulse:
Purple or purple spots in tongue body Usually white/sticky... similar to Damp Accumulation Thin, choppy
Choppy is unsmooth circulation that tells us there is a blockage
Fixed stabbing pain aggravated at night and by pressure
Yang Qi moves Blood in the daytime.... at night there is more pain because the Yang Qi is stored...
Superficial or abdominal masses with fixed location
Sometimes you can have Blood stasis with no pain ... a tumor is Blood stasis
Repeated bleeding with dark purple Blood, clots, or black stool
(It’s a shiny kind of black)
Dark complexion
(No nourishment - unusual say liver cancer patients)
Withered skin, nails, purpura, varicose veins in the abdomen or lower limbs
(Discoloration or pigmentation)Thirst at night
Blockage
Blood Heat (in depth)
Heat in the Blood causes Blood to overflow
Blood Cold (in depth)
Pain and numbness in the limbs Dim, purple/pale, cold skin Relieved by warmth
Abdominal pain Cold limbs Delayed menses with purplish Blood, clots Dim pale tongue Deep, slow, choppy pulse
Summary: Blood Cold: Cold signs + Blood stasis signs Blood Heat: Heat signs + bleeding
Treatment for Cold: warm and move the Blood
Loss of Qi due to Bleeding:
Yang collapse: sudden, pale complexion (pallor), pale and cold limbs; cold sweat; syncope; pale tongue and minute/floating/scattered pulse.
Yang excess (in depth symptoms)
s/s:
fever with aversion to Heat red complexion and red eyes thirst with preference for Cold drinks restlessness
local red swelling with burning sensation
tongue red with yellow coating
pulse rapid/forceful + (optionally) bleeding
Yang Preponderance can show hypertension, red...
Yang Excess (levels)
Accumulation of Yang Qi = Heat
Lowest degree: Next degree: More serious degree: Extreme Fire:
Yang Preponderance Heat Fire Heat/Fire Toxin
Too much Yang Qi
Move qi upward and out (blocked wei qi) what point
LI 4
Move qi inward and downward (point)
LV 3
Only point to needle subcutaneously- you can test if a person is fighting something (if it hurts a lot their wei qi i fighting something)
LU 7
What wind points using rolling technique should be used to break fever (will really be sore)
BL 12 & 13 (may cause person to break into sweat and break fever)
Exterior syndrome- simple definition:
Chill not relieved by warmth.
Exterior Excess syndrome is = to _________ invasion
Wind cold invasion
Confirming symptom for exterior excess syndrome
Chills/fever but with NO sweat
Confirming Sign for exterior excess syndrome
floating tight or floating tight pulse
wiry & tight pulse
both indicate cold and pain- the difference is

wiry is straight (the front and back of fingertip hit the artery at the same time)
Confirming symptom for all exterior syndromes
Chills that cannot be made better by warmth or covering up.
All exterior syndromes all share the same pathological change...
Wei qi stagnation
exterior heat(wind heat invasion)/interior cold refers to what?
Yang qi deficiency or damp/phlegm accumulation/ Yin excess
Interior heat syndrome
Yang excess/excessive heat or fire or Yin deficiency
2 symptoms that single out wind heat invasion
swelling of the glands and discharge turning yellow
The pulse can sometimes lie: def cold is yang def should be what kind of pulse?
slow. if kidney or heart def it will be rapid b/c the organ is weak and ithas to go faster (palitation)

Pulse can lie about heat or cold, but the tongue will tell you the truth
Dark scanty urine may confirm what syndrome?
Heat (except if they are taking vitamins-be cautious)
Confirming symptoms for heat?
Aversion to heat, cannot stop their mind (the qi trying to go up and out- it affects the heart trying to house shen- heart shen IS heart qi)
