Conscious, Preconscious, Unconscious

Conscious

immediate awareness of current experiences or thoughts

Preconscious

stores memories, capable of being retrieved

Unconscious

out of awareness, irrational wishes, shameful urges, unacceptable sexual desires, fears,


repressed or suppressed

ID

immediate biological gratification or tension reduction (hunger, thirst, sex, sleep)

Ego
