- D.O. receives the action of the verb directly - Pronoun goes before verb Ex: Sophie prend la livre. Elle la prend. |

- animate I.O. preceded with "de", is replaced with "de + Emphatic Pronoun" - "de + Emphatic Pronoun" placed behind verb Ex: Je rêve de l'homme parfait. Je rêve de lui. |

- inanimate I.O. preceded with "de", is replaced by "en" - regardless of number or gender, always "en" - "en" placed before verb Ex: Elle rêve de ses vacances. Elle en rêve. |
