Third-party Utilities
Explain the NSS Setting:

Migration
Enables this volume's data to be moved to alternative storage after it is inactive for sometime, this attribute requires additional 3rd party software.

What are default file system rights for the user who created the server object?
This user is granted the S(Supervisor) right to all of the volumes on the NetWare Server, this is because this user will also have the Supervisor Object right to the server, this is a link between file system rights and object rights.
What are default file system rights for all users in the same container as the volume SYS?
These users receive RF (Read and File Scan) rights to the PUBLIC directory on the volume SYS, which gives access to run the utilities in that directory.
Name six different utilities that can be used to manage file system security?

6. Windows Explorer
What is and ACL and what are the details pertaining to them?
An ACL is an access control list. Every file directory and eDirectory object has one. They designate rights to the particular item(file, object, ect) and can be changed either through explicit assignment or through an IRF(Inherited Rights Filter)
How do you view rights of a file or directory with the command line utility RIGHTS?
Navigate to desired file or directory and then type

rights /t

What are NetWare's two problems with Security Equivalence?
1. If User A is deleted and User B was security equivalent to User A, then User B looses all right granted through equivalence.

2. If User A is a supervisor and User B is security equivalent to User A then it is difficult to track where User B's rights are coming from
What right cannot be filtered by an IRF in the NetWare FILE(not eDirectory) system?
S(supervisor) cannot be filtered with an IRF, Supervisor will never be left out of an IRF, so that right will always go through.
Is it better to grant a file system rights through an IRF or an explicit trustee assignment?
It is less troublesome to grant file system rights using an explicit assignment, as they are easier to track.
Define Effective Rights?
What a user or group can do at a specific level of the file system or eDirectory tree, after considering any IRFs
How are Effective Rights calculated?
Effective rights are calculated by adding up all rights from group and user assignments and subtracting any IRFs higher in the file system. In essence: (Group Rights + User Rights) - IRFs
= Effective Rights
