The remains of an organism (plants and animals) turned to rock , which gives scientists information about what lived in earth in the past. Found in sedimentary rock layers !

Events that have happened in the past , for our unit it is focused on thousands to million of years ago.
Fossilized remains
The parts of an organism that have hardened and are left on earth.
Fossil fuels
Fuels that are made from fossilized remains , the specific fuels are : coal, natural gas and petroleum (gas )
Natural gas
A fossil fuel created by plant and animal remains, people use it for heat and electricity. This fuel pollutes the earth by giving off Carbon Dioxide , CO2.
Coal
A fossil fuel created plant and animal remains , people use it for heat and electricity . This fuel pollutes the Earth by giving Carbon Dioxide , CO2.
Oil
A fossil fuel created by plant and animal remains , people use it for making vehicles and machines to work. This fuel pollutes the Earth by giving off Carbon Dioxide , CO2.

Science name for oil, which is a fossil fuel. YOU HAVE TO KNOW BOTH NAMES !!!!! Oil and Petroleum are the same thing.
Non- renewable resources
Fuels found on earth that humans use to live , they are created by fossils. They are fossil fuels so they are re-grown. We only have a limited supply of non- renewable Resources.

Materials in the environment that are useful to humans. Examples : wood , animals , coal , oil , wind ( air ) , geothermal , water , plants.
