What is force ? |
Force is a push or pull on an object. Measured in Newtons |
|
What is Inertia ? |
The tendency for an object to stay at rest or in motion unless an outside force acts on it
More mass = More Inertia |
|
Newton's First Law |
Object at rest = remain at rest Object in motion = remains in motion
Unless an unbalanced force acts on it |
|
Newton's Second Law |
Increased force = Increased acceleration |
|
Newtons' Third Law |
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The force applied = the object applied back |
|
What's mass ? |
Measure of how much matter is in the object |
|
What's Weight ? |
The gravitational force acting on an object. A.K.A. The force of gravity Fg |
|
What is work ? |
Transfer of energy |
|
What are the 3 conditions for work to be done on an object ? |
1. There must be movement 2. There must be force 3. The force & the direction the objects travels must be in the same direction |
|
What's Potential Energy ? |
Having latent or stored energy |
|
What's Kinetic Energy ? |
Energy due to motion |
|
Law of Conservation of Energy ? |
The total amount of energy in a given situation is constant |
