What is the mission of the Recon BN?
Conduct ground reconnaissance and observation in support of the Marine division and its elements.

7 Tasks performed by the Recon BN:
1. Conduct Pre-H Hour Recon.
2. Capture selected prisoners.
3. Conduct specialized terrain reconnaissance including beach, road/route, and HLZ/DZ reconnaissance missions.
4. Conduct initial terminal guidance.
5. Perform special missions.
6. Engage enemy personnel using combines arms with authorization by division commander or higher.
7. Implant and monitor sensors.
Organization of the Recon BN:
HQ Company with 4 Recon Companies.
Each Company has a HQ platoon and 3 line platoons; with surface swimmers, inflatable boat handlers PRN, and a select number of divers and parachutists.
