Stamp acted

An act of British Parliament. Passed on March, 1765. A tax made to charge American colonist for every printed piece of paper they used. Some examples include, legal documents, letters, and newspapers. Many people thought the act was unfair.

Ended the American Revolutionary War. Start date September 3,1783. The acknowledgement of the United States independence. Boundaries of the United States were then formed. Drafted on November 30, 1782.

Lexington and Concord

First military battle of the American Revolutionary War. The British had more than 250 men that were either killed or wounded. America losses were less than 90 men. British troops marched from Boston to concord. April 19th, 1775.

Articles of confederation

Original Constitution of the U.S. Replaced in 1789. An agreement of the original 13 states. Gave territories the power to become their own states. Declared the U.S. free from Great Britain.

A Loyal American colonist. Also called Tory. These people were thought to make up about 1/3 of the population. Wanted to protest peacefully. Supported by the British army.
