Iliopsoas
○ 3 muscles known as Ilipsoas
§ Iliascus, psoas Major, and poas minor
§ O/I: Form lower back and hip to upper thigh
§ A: flex, external rotation of femur
Rectus Femoris

§ O/I: from lower hip to knee cap (ilium to patella)
§ A: flexes thigh, extends knee
Vastus medialis/lateralis/intermedius
○ O/I: top of femur/hip to patella
○ A: extends the knee
Gluteus maximus
○ O/I hip to upper thigh (iliac crest & sacrum to femur)
○ A: Extend at hip and externally rotate thigh
Gluteus medius and minimus
○ O/I: from hip to upper thigh (iliac crest to femur)
○ A: abduction thigh
§ Gluteal muscles are important in stabilization of the hip

○ O/I: from hip to upper portion of the leg (ischial tuberosity to tibia/fibula)
○ A: Hip extension flex leg at knee

○ O/I - Pubic symphysis to tibia
○ A - flexes the knee, adducts the thigh, and helps to medially rotate the tibia on the femur
Sartorius "tailors Muscle"
○ O/I - from hip to knee (iliac spice to tibia)
○ A - Flex, adduct, laterally (externally) rotate thigh at hip
○ Flex and slightly internally (medially) rotate leg at knee
Adductor magnus, longus and brevis
○ O/I from hip to upper portion of lower leg (knee) (pubic ramus to tibia/fibula)
○ A: Adduction

Gastrocnemius
§ O/I - Posterior femur to meet with soleus forming Achilles tendon and inserting in calcaneus
§ A - Flantar flexor of ankle
Soleus
§ O/I - Head of fibula/shaft of tibia to unite with gastrocnemius, forming achilles tendon
§ A - Plantar flexor of ankle
Tibialis anterior
§ O/I Tibia (lateral) to medial ankle
