Aspirin (ASA)
moa - Acetylates and irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenases (both COX-1 and COX-2) to prevent conversion of arachidonic acid to thromboxaneA2. Increases bleeding time. No effect on PT, PTT.
Clinical use: Antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiplatelet drug
Toxicity: Gastric ulceration, bleeding, hyperventilation, Reye's syndrome, tinnitus (CN VIII)
