Euphemism
An exaggeration that is so dramatic that no one would believe that statement is true. Tall tales are these.
Hyperbole
States a fact or draws a verbal picture by the use of comparison. A metaphor is more positive it says you are something. Does not use like or as.
Metaphor
uses the words like or as to compare one object with another and suggest they are alike.
Simile
The repetition of the same inital letter, sound or group of sounds in a series of words, and includes tongue twisters.
Alliteration
A group of words who's meaning is different from the ordinary meaning of words.
Idiom
Figure of speech in which human characteristics are given to an animal or an object.
Personification
The use of a word to describe or imitate a natural sound or the sound made by an object or an action.
