Gastroschisis
Small defect involving all 3 layers of the abdominal wall. Allows protrusion of the intestines into amniotic cavity.
Where does gastroschisis occur?
Lateral to umbilical cord insertion, usually to the right, not covered by membranous sac.
Gastroschisis Sonographic findings
variable bowel floating in amniotic fluid, cord is seen adjacent to the defect, no membranous sac covering hernia.
