FSH will stimulates 1000 follicles to mature into ovary at start of menstrual cycle.


LH will build the first part of cycle and eventually stimulate Ovulation creating Corpus Luteum.

What do developing follicles produce and what happens when it does?

They produce Estrogen. This will increase LH production and stop FSH production.

What does the Corpus Luteum begin to produce and what happens?

It will produce Progesterone. Progesterone will stop LH and FSH production.

What is Oogenesis?

Production of ovum.

Steps of oogenesis?

1. Oogonium first divides into secondary oocyte and polar body.


2.Oocyte abs polar body undergo 2nd division after ovulation as they travel towards opening of Fallopian Tube.


3. A single Ootid and 3 polar bodies are made. 3 polar bodies die and reabsorbed by woman body. Ootid matures into ovum and travels down oviducts to Uterus.
