A feedback loop occurs when...?

One of the outputs of the system is returned to the beginning of the system as an input

What are the two forms of feedback?

Positive and negative

Provide an example of positive feedback

A cognitive system example of positive feedback could be; many overweight individuals experience positive feedback with respect to their mass. An increase in negative thoughts about weight will increase or promote more negative thoughts about weight. This, an increase in negative thoughts promotes a further increase in negative thoughts.

Provide an example of negative feedback

An individuals body temperature rises, the individual, trying to cool off removes their jacket. Thus, an increase in body temperature results in the removal of one or more items of clothing, this decreases the individuals body temperature.

Feedback/feedback loop

An output from a system that is returned to the system as an input

Positive feedback

Feedback that tends to magnify a process or increase it's output

Negative feedback
