What are the 9 cultural regions of the world?

What is the rain shadow affect? What does it do?
As air rises, the moisture within them falls as precipitation. With all the moisture gone, the air goes over the mountains and comes back down as dry air on the other side.

The conditions of a specific area over a long period of time
What does GDP stand for? What does it measure?
Gross Domestic Product, measures the total value of goods AND services within that nation
What can high GDP tell us about a nation's economy? What about a low GDP?
With a high GDP, you can tell that a nation's economy is well developed. With a low GDP, you can tell their economy is poorly developed.
What is the Conical projection and what is it used for?
A type of projection that is on a cone, shows large landmasses over a large areas going east to west
What is the compromise projection and what is it used for?
A type of projection that is projected onto a cylinder, shows the entire earth
What is the planar projection and what is it used for?
A type of projection that is projected on a flat surface, shows shortest distance between two locations
What does per capita mean?
Per person
Why is measuring something per capita more accurate way to compare countries?
It's more accurate because per capita take into consideration the population of countries, and makes it more fairer to smaller countries with smaller gross values. (While a large nation may have high gross values, the per capita value may be smaller than that of smaller countries.)
What is a primary economic activity?
An economic activity dealing with the harvesting of natural resources
How do mountains affect the climate of regions?
Due to the rain shadow effect, mountains may cause a region to have a drier climate.
How does elevation affect the climate of regions?
The higher a region is above sea level, the colder the climate is.
How does latitude affect the climate of regions?
Regions closest to the poles have a warmer climate, while those near the pole have a colder climate.
How do large bodies of water affect the climate of the region?
Large bodies of water are able to help the surrounding regions keep a fairly cool climate in warmer seasons and a warm climate in cooler seasons.
How do ocean currents affect climate?
Ocean currents, depending on if they're cool or warm, may provide the surrounding region with a warm or cool climate.
What are some characteristics of underdeveloped countries?
Poor infrastructure, low GDP, low literacy rates, high infant mortality rates, low per capita income
