1. Mucous
-Viscous secretion rich in mucin (glycoprotein which attracts water = lubricant)
-Respiratory tract, salivary glands

2. Serous
-Watery secretion rich in enzymes
-Pancreas, salivary glands

Many glands secrete both products = seromucous
Modes of secretion?
1. Holocrine - disintegrating cell and its contents are secreted
2. Merocrine - Intact cell just secretes products
3. Apocrine - Pinched off portion of cell
Endocrine Glands
-Secrete HORMONES into blood which can act on distant targets
-Composed of clusters or cords of epithelial cells surrounded by capillaries
-Pituitary, adrenals, thyroid, ovaries/testes
