What is ametabolous? |
Insects that gradually increase in size as they develop from young to adult. They stay the same only get bigger in size. Example: Silverfish. |

Insects that undergo simple metamorphosis. The insects emerge from eggs then into nymphs/larvae then grow larger in size to adult. Example: dragonflies, mayflies, stoneflies. |

Insects that undergo a complete metamorphosis. They go through 4 stages from egg to larvae to pupa and then adult. Example: butterflies, moths, flies, beetles. |
