What is a lentic system?

Refers to "standing" or still water such as lakes and ponds.

What is a lotic system?

Refers to "moving" water such as rivers and streams.

What are some characteristics of a lotic system?

Subject to changes in water levels and temperature, temperature stratification is rate except in some pools, the water chemistry is determined by where the water comes from....the watershed. Light may be limited by turbidity or the canopy.
