What is an outbreak? |
An outbreak is an occurrence of a disease in a limited area. |

What's the difference between endemic, epidemic and pandemic? |
Endemic- infectious disease that exhibits a relatively steady frequency over a long time period in a particular geographic area. Epidemic- the number of cases is more than expected for that population during any time period. (Larger scale than outbreak) Pandemic- epidemic that spreads across continents. |

Whats the difference between emerging infectious diseases and reemerging infectious diseases? |
Emerging infectious diseases are those that are new or changing, showing an increase in occurence. It can be caused by a virus, bacterium, fungus, protozoan, or helminth (worm). Ex: Ebola virus, e.coli Re-emerging infectious diseases are those that were prevalent in the past, decreased in occurrence, but are recently increasing again. (Perhaps due to drug resistance and increased exposure) Ex. Tuberculosis |
