Evolution
Descent with modification from a common ancestor as a result of natural selection acting on genetic variation.
Variation
When a nucleotide in a sequence is changed slightly during a change in replication.
Asexual Reproduction
It results in limited variation in offspring as each new cell carries an exact copy of the DNA of the parent cell. (except if mutations occur)
Sexual Reproduction
Results in significant variation as each new individual obtains half their chromosomes from each parent. There is much space for variation for that reason.
Crossing Over
When chromosomes connect, some pass on whole genes to other chromosomes.
kinetic energy
energy that cannot be stored
Heat of Fusion
The amt of heat required to melt a specific amt of substance at its melting point
potential energy
stored energy
